Having a SJP moment

Fashion week, flashing lights and that night life. New York City has stolen my heart once again! It's been a whirlwind so far and I am finally taking a moment to take it all in and capture it.

What can I say I am absolutely loving life right now! Preparation for this trip wasn’t easy...try condensing your wardrobe down to two suitcases for three months. As a prolific wardrobe chameleon this was hard.

As with any trip I decided to invest in some fashionable pieces before I left. I can't go globe trotting without looking fabulous right? We Aussies have a reputation to keep right.

Given that I was on a budget I went tp my favourite shopping haunt for steals (queue the Canberra Outlet). With so many options for fashion items on sale I almost refuse to buy anything full price these days. Strategically shopping I've ended up with a few key pieces for NYC, that I will explore in the next few blog posts.

One result of my shopping efforts is this look, working it with some existing items.

How cute is my bag? I picked this beauty up from TK Maxx. The black insert can actually be swapped out for a statement clutch to create a different look. It’s also big enough to fit a portable charger for your Iphone (something you need here as your battery doesn't last long while navigating the subway and calling them Ubers).

I noticed a lot of volume at this years New York Fashion Week thus this blouse it perfectly on trend. Scoring it for less than half price at Cue Clothing qualifies for a win. From a styling perspective you could wear with a feminine skirt like I have done here. Alternatively put on a pair of jeans, leather jacket and black heels to change up the mood. Another look would be to wear it with a fitted a pencil skirt to balance out the flow of the sleeves. I also love the idea of once the cooler season sets in I have the option of layering a long sleeve under it.

In my mind this is a Sarah Jessica Parker look from in Sex in the city. Literally having my moment right now.

My part 2 post for NYC is going to cover shoe choice! When you are walking an average of 8km a day you need comfort AND style. Stay tuned for this one (Jo Mercer you got the goods).

What do you think of this look? How would you change up the use of this blouse?
