Jesinta Franklin shares her style and beauty tips for AW18

At just 26 Jesinta Franklin is wise beyond her years. Since winning title of Miss Universe Australia at age 18 she has featured in multiple magazine covers, written a health and wellness book Live a Beautiful Life, has been a radio presenter, an ambassador for David Jones, represented global luxury brands such as Coach and Dior and most recently graced the cover of Marie Claire alongside husband AFL player Buddy Franklin.

But what is most impressive, despite her successes, Jesinta is your girl next door -  down to earth warm and friendly with a great sense of humour and she brought that warmth centre stage last Saturday to the Canberra Centre where she was invited to share her daily routine and Autumn/Winter style and beauty tips. Basically, all the women in the room (including my-fangirl-self) were anxiously waiting to hear what she does to look so flawless.

Being a self-confessed obsessive over her healthy lifestyle, she recently discovered there is such a thing as being “too healthy” after recent health tests showed she was overdoing her exercise routine and being too stringent with her diet so is now striving to achieve more of a balanced lifestyle.

However when it comes to her personal style the balance is just right!

Her down to earth nature reflects her unique ability to go from slaying the latest celebrity red carpet in Dior Couture to gracing her local grocery store in her favourite trackpants – yes you heard right! Jesinta believes you too CAN wear trackpants, but it is how you wear them that matters. Of course she would team a great slouched pair with a pair of Celine ankle boots and an oversized knit and look effortless (and stunning) while doing so.

She loves looking effortless “I love looking like I don’t care, but I do” she quoted, confessing her ultimate go-to item is a crisp white cotton t-shirt – preferably from her husband’s wardrobe.
She is a big fan of men’s t-shirts and shirts for the oversized look which she finds can be easily styled in different ways – tucked in, knotted or thrown off the shoulder.

Even though her approach is effortless she describes her style as classic, comfortable and fresh. Yet she is humble to the fact she is one of Australia’s most loved style icons who isn't afraid to take fashion risks and has her own unique take on embodying the modern woman.

When it comes to her beauty she is very strict on her routine making sure she doubles cleanses each night before applying a good night cream and in the morning does not go anywhere without applying a day moisturiser with SPF15. She believes prevention is key which is why she is proud advocate for anti-ageing brand Olay at a young age.
On stage she talked through a carefully curated selection of her Autumn/Winter must have pieces found at the Canberra Centre which resembled some of her favourite pieces from her own wardrobe including:

  • A statement blazer – with a gorgeous print from Sass and Bide
  • A leather jacket in burnt orange – from Sass and Bide
  • Black with a metallic polka dot print jumpsuit – which could be dressed up or down
  • The little navy dress – forget your LBD ladies it’s all about LND this season
  • Grey turtle neck knit –oversized of course!
  • Black ankle length skirt - which I just have to have
  • A grey pair of slouchy trackpants from Trenery.

She showed how these items could be worn in different ways with statement ankle boots and loafers and accessorised with bold earrings.

When it comes to colour autumnal tones were on top of her list as well as well as adding a pop of colour into her make up look. She swears by a bold red lip to take your outfit from day to night as well as for an instant confident boost and

Jesinta sure lived up to her style icon status and left us with a hint of what's to come next that doesn't involve style or beauty - all will be revealed come September. My guess is something involving fitness but in the mean time you will find me raiding my husband's wardrobe for that perfect white tee.

Thank you to the Canberra Centre for having me and for bringing Jesinta to town.
