Reload - Throwback to Loaded Laneway - Saturday Night

Despite the weather, the groovy vibes continued onto Saturday night! I dressed warmly in a black wrap top, denim jeans, black boots and finished with a funky bomber jacket.

I started off the night by searching for food (surprise, surprise) from all of the vendors available. They were lined up on both sides of the laneway, with the main stage at the end. After much thought and consideration, I got desserts from the amazing Home Slice. Once full, I ventured to Maple Bar for drinks and to escape the cold and wet weather. The views allowed us to still enjoy the event whilst revelling in the VIP treatment.

Once 12:30 struck, I was front and centre for Yolanda Be Cool! Their set was fun, upbeat and drew a large crowd. Thank you Loaded Laneway for such a fun night loaded with music, food and fun times!

Style Inspo | Festival Fever

Ah festival season! My favourite time of the year. I love dressing up: glitter, fringe, tassels, florals you name it, I’ll wear it!

Jacket
The jacket of my dreams! This suede fringe jacket will make you the envy of all your friends and festival-goers. The tassels are fun and the fit is snug and cropped - both farm and fashionable.

Dress
This dress screams adorable! Polka dots have been a major trend this year, and with it being a maxi dress, it’s a big yes from me. The crossover body is flattering on all body shapes as you can easily adjust the fit. The red and white is also a timeless combo and is suited to those of all ages.

Boots
Festivals call for good stomping boots which will survive the duration of the day and are comfortable to boogie in. Again the length, provides warmth for when the sun sets but is also very boho chic. There is a small gold heel to elongate those legs and the provide the outfit with extra sparkle.

Bag
A shoulder bag is a festival must! The gold straps make this different from your average black bag. It’s is the perfect size to fit all of your essentials. The black suede material matches the boots perfectly and ties the whole look together.

So whether you’re heading to GTM this weekend or Splendour in a few months, we’ve got you covered!

Style stalker - Bold, casual and 90s

I caught up with local student Michael over the weekend. With an Urban flavour, Michael takes inspiration from blogs like Jaiperduvest and instagram accounts that pay homage to the 80’s and 90’s.

'If I had to describe my style in three words, it would be bold, casual, and 90’s,' said Michael.
Michael shares his insider scoop on where to shop.
'A lot of my pieces are purchased from Grailed.com and Farfetch.com

If Michael had an unlimited bank account what would he indulge in?
'I’d indulge in some very expensive fly print and jacquard silk shirts or printed jackets,' said Michael.

Combat winter blues with bright hues

The winter chill has begun to set in and I refuse to gravitate towards black. I feel that too many people succumb to the sea of black and grey in the streets of Canberra during winter. Instead I choose to stand out, projecting a fun and vibrant energy through colour.

This fuchsia show-stopper coat is from Jigsaw in the Canberra Centre. Renowned for classic pieces this woolen coat from their latest collection really stood out to me. It is a classic cut with a difference. I also loved pairing the wool fabric back with the satin finish of the top and the iridescent pleated midi skirt.
I think the mixture of fabric textures and bold colour blocking makes this outfit something else.

Lovers of lingerie and shoes rejoice! Your favourite guilty pleasures have granted your wishes and teamed up for a fun week of indulging!

Miss Winks, your favourite lingerie destination, has a Pop Up store inside the beautiful space of Sissa Sorella. You can find the delicate silk and lace pieces, hung in the store on rose gold hangers surrounded by fresh flowers and fun shoes to match.

These boss babes always provide an exceptional in store shopping experience and their background in fashion and styling is obvious, as it is a relaxed space where you can happily browse at a leisurely pace and purchase something unique and special.

The opening night was complete with champagne, a grazing platter and some sweet treats!

Winter wild side

As the winter chill sets upon us so too does the inclination to wear black. Just because the weather is cooling doesn’t mean our style needs to!
Opt for textures, pops of colour and print to stand out in the sea of black and grey.

I indulged in a test shoot with a Martha, a model I scouted at the markets. This was her first ever shoot and I think you would agree she did amazingly!

With this amazing team I hoped to inspire you to walk on the wilder side this winter.

Tipsy Tea Winter Wonderland

Now that it’s getting a bit cold, what better way to stay warm with a tea party? Snuggle up in your favourite coat/knit dress and make a fun weekend of it with the girls in this inviting and cosy space!

Prepare to be transported into a whimsical wonderland of florals and decadent treats. Now this isn’t any high tea, it’s one with a fun twist! There is a large array of savoury bites and sweet treats - something for everyone. To accompany these you also get to choose your choice of White Rabbit signature cocktails - each one is a marvellous creation.

Savoury Starters

The spiced pork sausage roll has the perfect ratio of meat to pastry and was nicely spiced. An interesting creation, the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was delicious. The sandwiches included roast chicken, apple and walnut and were all perfectly manicured and bite size. The pastries were my absolute favourite! The flavour of the tomato and caramelised onion tarts explode in your mouth and are so warm and filling.

Sweet Treats

Starting off was a high tea staple - the macaroons. You can’t really go wrong with these. The marshmallow tarts were gooey and tasty. The dark chocolate and peanut brownies with salted caramel icing stole the show for me. The base tastes like mud cake with a soft mousse top. The cinnamon and raspberry jam doughnuts were an extra sweet treat. The double chocolate cookies delivered on the promise of double chocolate which many cookies fail to do.

Cocktails

Strawberry vermouth, Beefeater gin, vanilla, lemon juice and grapefruit bitters, topped with French sparkling wine. This comes in a cute little cup and is perfect for all those who love your drink nice and sweet!

Woodford Reserve Bourbon, peach liqueur, spice vanilla syrup topped with iced T2 French Earl Grey tea .Another sweet favourite! This one compliments the sweets platter very well!

Thank you to the lovely White Rabbit owner Nick Tuckwell for having me!

Event re-cap - A Fully Loaded Laneway - Friday Night

It was awesome to see Verity Lane bustling with something SO different. Something, I think we all crave and would like to see more of! Sophia Carlini the brains behind the event, should be very proud because Verity Lane was fully loaded with music and food!

As we wandered through the lane trying to figure out what to eat, we grooved to 80s and 90s music.

The loaded laneway had the perfect line up of food. From Grease Monkey, Hello Hanoi, Kebaba, Sabi, Verity 112 and HomeSlice Co. Our mouths exploded, when our lips touched the fully loaded, cup cakes by HomeSlice Co.

The loaded laneway festival hosted an number of local artists including Weirdo Gvng. This youthful group presented a super high energy hip hop set.

We vibed with the block party feels of the Laneway event. Some of us partied on till the wee hours of the night at Treehouse. Two big thumbs up for the event!

Style stalker - Sports Luxe Deluxe

I met the gorgeous UC UC student Tal while shopping in the City. I love sports-luxe looks, so naturally I had to shoot Tal.
The tailored black pants from Bardot are a clear winner and versatile piece. I've also love to see them styled with some white sneakers and a logo tee!
'I can’t live without black. I love to wear it because it appeals to my aesthetic and preference for minimalism,' explained Tal.
Her favourite store in Canberra is Zara with the Iconic winning the online category.
'The iconic was a really wide range of clothing appealing to my aesthetic.'
Finally Tal draws inspiration from Kendall Jenner.
'I really love her look and fashion. She’s skinny like me so it’s easier to draw inspiration from her than other celebrities.'

Who What Wear - Edgy, pure shades of grey

I am completely obsessed with light shades of grey at the moment. You will see me rocking all white and bright shades this Autumn Winter. Looking effortlessly pure will be my motto this season!

I put together this outfit to show you that you don't need to always need to wear black on black with black. I also bought the skirt and jacket from two very popular online stores to see what the quality would be like. I was pleasantly surprised and in terms quality.
For the cooler days, when you just need a warmer back, throw on a suedette biker jacket to keep your street style in check!
Experiment! I have just discovered teaming edgy with lady like styles and I have to say its a winner.
Also, feeling a little risque - showing off my mid-drift post baby!
Try layering your cross body bag under your jacket! Tie a scarf to your bag to individualise your style. Hows that for a style twist?!

Who what wear - One shirt two ways

While I would love to live in a fantasy world where my wardrobe and bank account is limitless, it won't ever happen and to be honest it wouldn't bet great for the environment either.

This is why I encourage my clients to purchase items for multiple wears, and I also try and live by that (of course there are some exceptions). Before you swipe your card next time I challenge you to think of at least three ways to wear the garment you are about to purchase.
I picked up this cute stripped shirt blouse from TK Maxx at the Canberra Outlet Centre and wanted to highlight how it could be worn.  There is the obvious such a white or blue jeans, but I wanted to try a monochromatic style and contrasting colour instead.

What would you wear it with? I would love to hear your thoughts.
