The Shirt Edit | Wear it casual

For our latest edit we hunted down our fave white shirts from Canberra Outlet Centre and styled them for three different dress codes. Firstly we featured DJ's smart casual look then Janette showed us how she styled a corporate like shirt into a polished look with some clever detail and this week I show you how to wear it casual.

I chose to style a causal look as I know how easy it can be to get into the habit to throw on active wear or a jeans and a tee over the the weekend without too much thought. Which can be great! But it is great to mix it up and sometimes with a little bit of thought, it doesn't take as much effort as one may think to look polished but still be casual and feel relaxed.

Picking a great piece such as this ruffled shirt from TK Maxx is good example of how you can be creative and dress down some cool pieces to get you out of your tee-and jeans rut.

When I saw this shirt from TK Maxx I instantly fell in love with the shape and ruffles. I knew its contemporary shape and detail would make it quite versatile enough to wear it casual as well as for work or dressed up.

Given the sleeve's over sized shape and ruffles I felt the perfect way to dress it down would be teamed up with denim such as a pair of ripped jeans  or skirt. I initially tried it on with a pair of jeans and heels but I ended up feeling too dressed up so opted for this fitted  raw edge skirt which was a much better pick balancing out the shape of the sleeves.

Accessories must be carefully selected when trying to keep things casual but again with a bit of thought the right accessories can help you dress down an outfit and keep you looking polished. For this, my must have accessories are a pair sunglasses, a tote and a pair of flats.

How would you dress down a white shirt?
