Bigger is Better

I am a burger enthusiast. I love beef burgers, chicken burgers, lamb burgers, veggie burgers. You name it, I’ve eaten it. Now along with these burgers I also order fries and a chocolate milkshake. It’s a classic combo; the holy trinity. In my quest for the perfect burger, none has ever compared to the size of the burgers at Brodburger. Located in Kingston, there is a reason that Canberra is known for these beauties and have been for many years.

We arrived there at 11:45 on a Saturday morning in an attempt to beat the lunch rush. We were lucky to find a table when we did, with many people already there because in the next 30 minutes the place filled up pretty quickly, with families, old and young securing a spot either inside or inside. The day was all blue skies, with the views visible through the floor to ceiling windows with an abundance of natural light streaming in, making you feel like you’re not missing out by sitting inside. It was also quite toasty inside despite it being 2 degrees outside; proving a perfect escape from the cold.

I ordered the classic Brodburger but added bacon and egg, along with the Piri Piri burger but in baby brod size. My other friends ordered the Lamb Burger and Double Cheese Burger. We all got a serving of fries and chocolate milkshakes. Oh and onion rings. For the price that you pay, you definitely get a lot out of it. The burgers are almost the size of your face and the milkshakes stand tall and proud. The onion rings are the perfect consistency of crunchy to soft, the the sauce complimenting the flavours perfectly. The chips are thinly cut with just the right amount of salt. The milkshakes, whilst very chocolate, are the right amount of thickness. The lamb burger is juicy and the meat is almost well done. It is also not greasy at all which is a nice surprise. The double cheese burger is much bigger and indeed better than the ones you’ve probably already had at McDonald’s. The Piri Piri burger was a good size if you’re not super hungry but still need to feel satisfied. The sauce is tasty and has a nice kick to it in the after taste, mixed with the crispiness of the patty. Adding the extra in my already stacked up Brodburger took it to the next level and I almost couldn’t fit my hands around it. I would 100% recommend it becomes very similar to the Deluxe Burger but for cheaper and the ingredients together create a rich and mouth-watering combination.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the lovely Josie who is the acting manager of Brodburger at the moment. You were so kind and hospitable and made my experience all the more enjoyable - so thank you!

I have yet to find a burger that rivals both the taste and the size. Brodburger proves that bigger is indeed better.
