Fashfest designer Profile: Pure Pod

We love a designer that is eco friendly, ethically made and sustainable! The Fashion Vault has always admired the founders of Pure Pod, Kellie Donovan and Sean Watson. We have watched their label evolve and the fact that you can incorporate anyone of their scarves in your capsule wardrobe is a win! Imagine all that soft organic cotton around you neck? It sounds comfortable and actually good for your skin right?! (total luxe!)

Pure Pod will be showing at Fashfest on Saturday, 1 October at 6:30. We are very much looking forward to seeing their collection, inspired by nature and organics on the runway.

We caught up with Kellie to find out a little more about her label.

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the collection you will be showing at Fashfest 2016?

Our new collection is called 'Awaken'. It is a collection inspired by nature, organics and our botanical artist/florist friend, Lauren Anderson from Field & Coppice. She designed a beautiful art installation at Brow Lab in Braddon and photographed it. We have turned the images into textile prints which are the main statement of  our new commercial collection.

Pure Pod will have it's 10th birthday next year and with that thought close to our hearts and minds we are relaunching our brand to the public and into retail stores on line and wholesale throughout Australia.

We are launching our stunning new collection at Fashfest that is fully FAIR TRADE certified, FL O & GOTS Certified. This means that the people and planet involved are in our best interests and the lowest impact on our environment is a key ethic to this collection. Being Fair Trade certified shows our loyalty to those involved with making our clothing are looked after in their health, safety and incomes.

The clothing is an organic life style collection for women. Weekend and some informal work wear all made in beautiful organics and designed to be layered with each other. Some products will launch on our new web site late Oct/Nov and others for next winter in late Feb/March 2017. Pre-orders are welcome from our studio for the public and retailers interested in stocking our brand. Our new web site will be launched in late October. Keep a look out!

We will also be collaborating at Fashfest with another inspiring Eco artist from the Sunshine Coast - Katie Johnston from EcoBling - Planet friendly Accessories.

EcoBling up cycles waste and turns it into gorgeous Eco jewellery. They plant a tree for each piece sold and work with marginalised communities in developing countries to empower people to create eco-friendly enterprise. They also respond directly to social issues, environmental concerns and natural disasters through creating meaningful and beautiful products. EcoBling is the planet friendly accessory label.

Field & Coppice is a Canberra based floral design studio created by Lauren Andersen. With a design aesthetic underpinned by a love of Australian native flora, Field & Coppice is all about variety in texture, shape, colour & pattern, and a style which retains that sense of wildness and unpredictability found in nature.

Field & Coppice offers floral styling for weddings, events, corporate spaces and private orders in Canberra and surrounds.
2. Describe Pure Pod in five words

Ethical // passionate // sustainable // kind // transparent

3. What's next for your label?

Our next phase is to celebrate our achievements in our 10 year anniversary next year and reignite our passion for what we love to do. We are relaunching our brand back into the whole sale market and a new web site on line at the end of October. After running our label for such a long time we have been re-evaluating what it really means to us and pushing into new boundaries of ethics and adventuring into new paths of a cleaner and greener product for our customers and retailers. We will be launching our fully Certified Fair Trade organic collection at Fashfest and other shows around Australia and overseas in the next 6 months. It almost feels like we are starting again but with a wealth of knowledge leading our way into a brighter new future!

4. Where can we get our hands on your new collection?

Our Awaken Collection will be available on line at the end of October and in stockists around Australia in November. We will be showing at the NPG Christmas designer markets in November and other various events coming up to Christmas. Customers and interested retailers can join our mailing list and social media to keep updated with our endeavours over the next few months.
