Who What Wear - Yao Yao Corporate Styling

Yao Yao, Communication Professional.

Yao yao was stopped on her way in to work. Her dress sense is the perfect balance with being on trend yet appropriate for the corporate environment.

“When I get dressed for work I try to find the happy medium between dressing conservative and dressing on trend”, said Yao yao.

“I like having fun with colour and also enjoy wearing neutrals like my outfit today”.

We also admired Yao Yao’s turquoise Prada bag.  Her view on designer bags is that they are a wardrobe investment. The key is to look after them and buy classic styles rather than trend pieces. We also concur with this!

Who What Wear - Danai PSNL

Nothing like walking back to your car in New Acton, then having your head down in the boot putting items away and have a friend come up behind you and surprise you.  After getting over the mini heart attack of who is in my personal space I realised it was my friend Danai.

With Danai looking effortlessly stylish I was lucky yo have a camera on hand.

Who What Wear - The christening

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I had a busy weekend with my family celebrating my nephews Christening and having to deal with a terrible flu all at the same time time.

Being sick since last week meant that I had no time to go shopping. So this family event called for a outfit rerun. Also a big family means lots of events and realistically you can't always buy something new, nor do you need to.

As a stylist I highly recommend getting creative with what you already have in your wardrobe. Thus, queue the outfit below. The skirt is one of my favourites by Johnny. Originally purchased for a wedding some time ago I have honestly gotten my wear out of it. Instead of pairing it back with something plain (the logical choice) I have opted to clash it with a striped dress (worn as a top) and a clutch to tie in the line work.

Who What Wear - Well suited - Vivek

The Fashion Vault style-stalked fitness model Vivek while he was judging the finals of the ASMY Swimsuit Model Competition at Tongue & Groove.

Well suited, Vivek was dressed by Simon Anau from Peter Jackson's in Woden.
"I was told you can determine someone's self-worth by the suit they wear. Although I've built a brand around the exposure of my body, a well-fitted and styled suit is what complements the person I wish to be," said Vivek.

Who What Wear - Timi Zipamo

The Fashion Vault snapped Timi on his way through Civic. His style influences are Big Daddy Kane, Eddie Murphy and Tyson Beckford - just to name a few.

Timi is one of the few guys in Canberra to be rocking a flat top. This definitely got our attention.

When asked about fashion, Timi dresses the way he does because it increases his confidence and he loves being on trend and stylish.

4 ways to wear white on white

White on white outfits are simple, glamourous and oh so chic!
See below for my personal favs and how to replicate the looks.
1. Metallic highlights are perfect for an all-white outfit. Whether its shoes, accessories or even a jacket as seen on Kenzas, a metallic pop of colour keeps the look simple and chic however breaks it up beautifully. Have fun and play around with your metallic pieces to add that perfect finishing touch.

2. The white flare is a new classic. From high street brands like ZARA to designer brands like Sass & Bide creating their own take using different materials and textures. A personal favourite is the high waisted light weight white flare figure hugging on the derrière and loosening up from there. Team it with a classic mid drift to accentuate the waist line. Alternatively, another glam look is the 70s inspired elegantly loose look. Team loose wide leg pants (comfy yet oh so chic) with a movable shirt and slightly tuck it in to add some shape, add some metallic 70s inspired accessories and you’re good to go.

3. Adding cream in the mix similarly like metallic highlights subtly breaks up the outfit. Ensure that the cream is relatively on the whiter side and make sure to step back and take a full look at your outfit to confirm each item compliments each other. Take note and be inspired from these street style pics.

4. As seen on Sarah Ellen, playing with textures adds a fun flirty feel to an all-white outfit. Look for lace and sheer white materials and mix it back with blocks of white. Additionally, if you’re daring enough add a pair of textured heels (fluffy in Sarah Ellen’s case).
If too much texture isn’t your thing, make like Tuula and dress up a simple sheer white top with a beautiful textured skirt.

Summer is the perfect time to test out these white on white trends, so rummage through your wardrobe and play around for the perfect combo.

Until next time.

FASHFEST 2016

Image from Fashfest facebbok

It’s official the dates form FASHFEST 2016 are lock in and have changed to September.

The local Canberra fashion event has changed to align with Australia’s overall fashion calendar and timing  of sister events. This is also a bonus to us fashionista's! Why? Well  September = warmer weather = more fashion options.

Clint Hutchinson Co-founder says the change of dates will also mean there is more time to prepare and accept additional designers to the show.

“in 2016 we will see an increase in the number of catwalk shows compared to the previous years ”, said Clint.

Hosted once again at the National Convention Centre we are looking forward to covering the show. We have seen this event grown and each year it keeps getting better. We can't wait to see what local designers exhibit and which interstate and international designers are also attracted to our city.

What you need to know as a designer:

·      New dates: 29 September to 1 October.
·      Number of shows: total of six, two per night.
·      Designer applications due: 14 February.

Who What Wear - Stylist Jess Discipio

Jessica Discipio stylist and designer was spotted in Braddon on her way to meet with local boutique owners to discuss some upcoming editorial shoots.
Her style is a play on the classics, denim paired back with a white shirt. This amazing Tome shirt has a cute cut out detail on the back (partially the reason why we ran after her).

Jess was fortunate enough to have this shirt hand delivered to her by the Aussie NYC based designer when she worked for the Sydney agency representing the label.

Look into Jess’s wardrobe and you will see that she loves supporting Australian designers. Her style is classic with detailed touches.

Being a stylist Jess is required to be super organised. Hence you will rarely find her without her notebook and diary.
