Runway Re-cap - Luke Chiswell New Day Collection Viewing

A man with many talents, Luke Chiswell is a visual artist known for his image “Straight Face” drawn when he was only 17 - already showing talent at a young age.  On Friday 29 May he showed his New Day Collection at Monster Bar, New Acton which debuted last month at FashFest 2015.

His garments are made entirely from raw and clean materials, flowing fabrics, layering silk, linen and lace. He explored cut, surface, decoration, texture and silhouette through his collection. He gathers inspiration from his travels to New York, LA and when he lived in his caravan in the bush near rural town Collector.

Luke specialises in abstract work, screen printing and sculptures. Overall one of my favourite designers from Fashfest. Definitely a designer to look out for!

Here are a few looks I picked out from his launch showing a Melbourne-inspired approach by his audience. Furs, denim and leather were among the favourites worn that night.
