Grand opening of Rebel Muse

What a night, for the Rebel Muse owner Alicia Xyrakis. Her VIP media launch had over one hundred plus attend; each guest was welcomed by a glass of French Champagne and a photo op at the media wall.

The night was a perfect welcome home for the owner, Alicia who is ready to set Braddon on fire.

Alicia says she ‘Loved Sydney a lot! But I am happy and excited to be back in Canberra opening my store, Rebel Muse. I have amazing amazing family and friends here to support me.'

The stylish crowd that attended could also feel Alicia's excitement. Her parents were among the proudest, filming the buzz with gleaming smiles for her.

Some of the amazing items on offer in store

The Rebel Muse team featuring 10 ‘muses’ were on hand to make the night run smoothly, the muses were floating around showcasing various labels from the store - showing the versatility and brand diversity in the collections available at Rebel Muse.

‘It’s my baby, my pride and joy now, so it makes Canberra that much more exciting for me and I hope it does for everyone else too’ Alicia said.

'I am bringing a a high-end boutique to Canberra offering labels like Nicholas the Label, Steele, Macgraw, House of Harlow, and Palm Beach Candles'.

When you walk into Rebel Muse you will notice the fit out has a spacious and edgy feel with a lot of class. This reflects the brands stocked in the store. The interior design was curated by the talented Melissa Twidale from Archagents.

We wish Alicia all the best and are grateful for a new fashion experience offering brands not previously available in here. We can't wait to see how she helps influence style in Canberra.

Chic Style at Rebel Muse

Melissa Daniels was style stalked at the Rebel Muse media launch this past week.

The 29-year-old Executive Assistant effortlessly wore head-to-toe Witchery, literally, from earrings to shoes!

This outfit was perfect for the Rebel Muse launch. Melissa looked smashing in this khaki animal print dress - the outfit was polished yet fun and the purple Nars lip pencil provided a chic pop.

Melissa said her style in general has taken a rather grandiose step towards simplicity over the last few years. The staples in her wardrobe have gone from big and bold to comfortable and chic.

We love!

Street Style Stalker - Tommy Banjavcic

Street Style Stalker with Tommy Banjavcic

Tommy was pulled to the side on his way to afternoon drinks.

With Canberra’s temperatures dropping Tommy opted for style and functionality with his maroon blazer. He has kept the outfit light and Autumn appropriate by pairing it with a classic v-neck white tee, cream chinos and tan shoes.

It’s refreshing to find a man who enjoys shopping and dressing sharp.

When shopping Tommy looks for the finer details such as tartan lining in the collar and pocket square of this blazer.

10 Staple Wardrobe Items Every Woman Must Own

By Janette Lenk

Investing in the right pieces will save you time and money.

It goes like this: You wake up, scan your wardrobe - looking for something to wear thinking, “All these clothes and nothing to wear?” It’s not just you, it’s a common problem. With our list of top 10 items that every woman must own, you will never be caught out with nothing to wear.

Investing in chic, timeless pieces will make your life easier. You’ll know what to wear, how to wear it and feel satisfied that you have a reliable outfit for whatever occasion.

Getting your staples in order
To complete your personal look you must have your wardrobe staples in order. That means you have to invest in the following. With this 10 staple guide will make you feel confident with what you own and how to take your look from day to night with a swipe of lipstick.

Be cocooned by:
1. T-shirt
2. Jeans
3. Beige, satchel bag
4. Black, work bag
5. Long necklace
6. Blazer
7. Black tapered, mid waisted pants
8. Printed collard top
9. Red lipstick
10. Patent, beige heels

These items will not only ensure you are well equipped for any occasion but will also give you piece of mind on what clothing combinations you can mix and match.

Spending a little more money on your key pieces is worth it. The quality is important and can make a world of difference. It’s about your total look, the crisp lines and how the fabric feels when you’re cocooned in any piece of clothing.

Building a work look - Start your work look by building on the tapered black pants then adding a printed collard top. To make your outfit pop add a long necklace, tailored blazer and structured work bag.

Best advice I can give is find a fabulous pair of black tapered, mid-waisted pants for work. Make the pants work for you and put time and effort in to finding the right pair. You will wear these more often that you think!

Taking it to night - To take this to a casual night look, replace the top with a T-shirt, work bag with a satchel, swap your work pants for jeans and roll up the bottom of the legs. Add a touch of red lipstick for the perfect pout and you’re done. Remember to tuck in the T-shirt in line with your belly button, to give it a clean look.

Canberra fashion icon Jemma Mrdak tells us her thoughts on fashion ‘I love the freedom of fashion. The way which it can take you places, and how that one dress or skirt can instantly boost your confidence’.

The patent leather heels will make you look taller. Plus they go with everything; it’s a win/win situation. We asked Jemma if she prefers bag or shoes and she said ‘SHOES!”

Remember if you spend a little more money on key pieces, they can last you from 4 to 40 wears! And if you like the cut and the way you feel in them, then why not?!

Life can be fast paced, so lipstick is a convenient ‘go to’ having a few shades of red can be handy and instantly gives any outfit a lift. Keep in mind, when searching; plum, raspberry and orange, if you’re daring. Another easy way to add texture to your look is by accessorising, big statements pieces are worn after 5pm and long layered chains are worn during the day.

Being able to rely on your key items will give you sanity – a piece of mind! You will be able to scan your wardrobe and have the satisfaction of being able to rely on the pieces that are in there. You can be assured that you will have pieces for any occasion, ready for your wearing. That’s why you need to make a start with these 10 staple items.

Canberra Centre hosts Kerrie Hess Exhibition

Kerrie Hess is Australia’s most famous water colour artist. She graced the stage at Canberra Centre with her modest presence to help launch the Centre’s Autumn/Winter 2015 season.

With Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Vogue as her clients, she is the sweetest woman just like her water colour images. The reveal of Kerrie’s exhibition was a delightful hit! Canberra Centre hosted an exhibition that includes both existing works and five exclusive designs reflecting Canberra style – featuring outfits inspired by our retailers with iconic Canberra backgrounds.

“We discussed from the beginning that the images would really showcase the city and all of the iconic buildings, landmarks and greenery of Canberra while also bringing in a creative fashion element of Autumn/Winter 2015,” Kerrie says.

We loved what she had to say about Canberra fashion. “Canberra style is a mix of European style with some muted colours, worn in more of an urban relaxed way,” she says.

The Kerrie Hess exhibition is open until 1 May 2015. You can find the exhibition between Country Road and Jigsaw on Level 1. You don’t want to miss this one – hope to see you there!
