Inspired by today's day of love (Valentine's Day) we thought we would feature the perfect look to throw together for a date night, be it a first date or a date with a long-time love.

This Boohoo bodysuit teamed up with ZARA leather skirt features thin straps and a sheer panel which shows the perfect amount of skin without  being too revealing.
The monochrome heels (from Myer) makes  this look versatile for day or night.
These stunning Totally Jewel statement earrings add detail and a touch of glamour.

Get the look - Jessica Gomes for David Jones 2015

We are so obsessed with being dressed in all white! Loving this David Jones look from their 2015 Collection! Opt for a a long drape vest, if your bored of your blazer. Still very dressy, especially if you find one in a stiff material. There are amazing vests from Witchery and white wide pants from Target. You don't need to dress head to toe in designer, BUT you can still look like you have for half the price. You just need to have a look in mind and copy it.

Layer after layer

Sometimes all I ever want in life is to be a rainbow, put colour on colour. I also feel that way with layering jewels. It appears that I haven't gotten over the culotte! They are just so easy to style, plus I can hide my hips. If you are self conscious about your hips and you have a small upper body this is a great staple for you! Especially for going out to dinners and drinks.
Some of you might think that wearing this many jewels is over kill but I like to play things up and I'm comfortable in this many layers. Thats the best thing about fashion and styling you can be who ever you want to be and express yourself your way!
Back to the culottes, styling these with tight crop tops or loose t-shirts are perfect, tuck tops in or leave them hanging out. To keep the look calm go for something plain OR if you want to make a statement (like I have) go with a patterns and colour!

FASHFEST - Model Casting Call

On Sunday 1st February I was fortunate enough to be a guest judge for the 2015 FASHFEST model casting.

Walking into the Convention Center I immediately felt the buzz in the air. There were over 300 model hopefuls in the room creating a diverse range to select from.

This year, models also had an added incentive to try out. A male and female will be selected to become the face of FASHFEST 2015.

The faces of FASHFEST 2015 will each get a 12-month contract to work with Canberra’s HAUS Models and Sydney-based WINK Modeling agency.

With this in mind it was game on, having to narrow down the field from over 300 to 100 and create a short list for “the face”.

Luckily I wasn’t on my own, along side me I had (left to right):
Leighton Hutchinson, Photography Director for FASHFEST; photographer HAUS Models
Andrea Hutchinson – Co-founder and model director for HAUS
Taryn Williams – Managing Director of Wink
Hayley O'Neill, Freelance fashion stylist, blogger

But first let me take a selfie

We judged the models based on looks, presence, posing and keeping in mind what the designers have requested. Of course a big component was the perfect catwalk strut (something I'm sure I will never master, clumsy and heels make for interesting times).

I think it is important to highlight to all those who entered, you should feel proud!

It takes guts and grit to put yourself out there and if you don’t get through use it as a learning experience.

Remain positive and keep putting yourself forward in the fashion industry. It could be what makes you get through next time.

I can’t say who made it and who didn’t as my lips are sealed. I can say there were so many who have great potential future modeling careers and I would love to style for them.

Having planned ministerial and fashion events before, I know how much work goes into coordinating FASHFEST behind the scenes.  Thus, a big congrats to the team for doing such a great job so far.

Andrea Hutchinson said, “Organising FASHFEST is a massive job but one the is extremely rewarding. You get to see months and months of preparation come together for an amazing fashion experience.”

“Before FASHFEST there was nothing like it before in Canberra. From a fashion photographer perspective it offers opportunities in the fashion industry that were previously rare to Canberra,” said Leighton Hutchinson, Photography Director for FASHFEST.

“It is a great opportunity to work closely with teams of artists, stylists, models and designers producing a well organized event on par with Sydney and Melbourne,” said Leighton.

I know myself and fellow fashion fiends can’t wait for FASHFEST to launch in May.  For me it is the perfect excuse to get dolled up and indulge in one of the best fashion events that Canberra has to offer.

Fashfest will be held at the Convention Centre 13 – 16 May 2015.

Fashion artillery

Canberra’s 2015 Miss Universe entrant Simone Luker, pulls out her fashion artillery in this green and black ensemble.

Spotted on her way to a night at the open air cinemas Simone knows the value of layering.  Canberra’s recent unpredictable weather calls for a gorgeous long-line military green over coat.

Simone approaches fashion with military precision. She wears green tones to make her green eyes pop and tights to accentuate her long lean model legs that we all secretly wished we had.

The addition of a gun-metal body harness adds just the right amount of metallic flash to this clean line look.

We wish Simone all the best in the March 2015 Miss Universe heats.
