PRETTY IN PASTELS

There are so many gorgeous florals in pretty pastel colours out at the moment perfect for Oaks Day – typically a ladies race day. Go one step further and opt for this season’s key trend: coordinated separates in matching prints.

CLASHING HUES AND FEATURE HEADPIECES

Traditionally colour is the popular choice for Melbourne Cup race days and what better way to celebrate it than with a bold head piece after all, impeccable millinery is the key to the perfect races look. Accessorise with metallics to add a hint of glamour and sophistication.

CLASSIC ELEGANCE

You cannot go wrong with a classic black and white palette for a day out at the races and not just to meet Derby Day dress guidelines. Stand out with a bold stripe, perfectly coordinated accessories and well-structured tailoring.

For inspiration or to complete your races look we have compiled a list of our favourite race wear sources:

Mussen VIP night

The lovely girls from Mussen boutique, Simone and Sianne hosted a VIP night to showcase the latest spring collection from Wish. Upon arrival bubbly and delicious treats were served whilst DJ Ave Nocturna filled the atmosphere with summery tunes. Janette and I mingled amongst the fashionable crowd and eagerly took our seats to preview the runway looks.

The collection did not disappoint showcasing coordinate and separates in a great mix of spring florals and prints as well as killer cocktail dresses in darker hues and monochrome. The looks were complemented with great heels and eye wear from Eye Candy in Braddon.

Thanks for having us!

Underground Muse

A collaboration between TFV's Sofia and Janette and photographer extraordinaire Eric Piris from Red photography. The styling was carefully pieced together with an eclectic mix of garments from both Sofia and Janette's fashion labels sofia polak and T-Heinrich  including embellished tops and elegant gowns.

The make-up styling by Madeline Bulbeck from Enhance You and hair styling by Leslie Henshaw from Off London  finished of the looks immaculately by striking the perfect balance of current trends and rich tones complementing the overall mood of the shoot.

A.Baker's underground bar set the perfect scene with rustic yet intricate artwork including cow skull d├ęcor which provided the perfect contrast against the decadent fabrics and lux accessories. A big thank you to all involved and in particular to stunning muses: Ashleigh Rumble, Alice Anderson and Ellen Hodgson.

Flora and fauna over load

Seeing floral print everywhere, makes me want to frolick in the flowers! It brightens my day BUT I have seen some really crazy things with overloading your floral with more floral. Now, if your not an expert - start your floral clash with two pieces only! Not a top, a skirt, with a floral bag and necklace. Ease up cowboy and start small. I love to mis match and play the look up with complementing lips and jeweled necklaces and earrings. One you start to feel content with the look, you will evolve.
Here are some pieces that we think you can start with!
From right to left 1. Portman's skirt $89.95, Sheike top $89.95, Dotti, Orange top Shieke, Clutch Lucy in the sky
