Wags at the Brownlow awards

Girls, I don't say this often but it is time to start following football...

That's right it is that time of year again, the AFL Brownlow awards.

AFL you know that sport that has genetically blessed men running around with great arms who  wear awkwardly short shorts. Let's be honest I only pay attention to the AFL awards night to gush at the gowns worn by the WAG's.

This year my favourite would have to be Rebecca Judd, Nadia Coppolino Bartel and Jessie Habermann.

Rebecca Judd graces the carpet in one of her favourite designers J'Aton. I can see why, this designer is amazing. If only my wedding gown could be by J'Aton (insert a massive sigh).

This gown features a high neck and beaded embellishments. I feel that the cut outs on the shoulders soften the hardness of the high neck. While this isn't a gown I would pick for myself it highlights Rebecca's waist beautifully.

Fashion blogger Nadia Coppolino Bartel is no stranger to dressing well.  She looks amazing in this fitted white gown that features a leather studded harness and gunmetal buckles. This is a perfect example of mixing elegance and attitude. Love it.

Loving the colour of this gown worn by Jessie Habermann. Coupled with her blonde locks it works well with her complexion.

She also got it spot on with understated hair and makep as this dress is very glitzy.  The balance between sheerness and beaded fabric is perfect. I love that she had the diligence to pull back on over accessorising with such a bling dress. Overall a great execution however the black heavy shoes are a slight detract (even though she is wearing a black clutch). I think when in doubt go nude ladies (heels that is).

Now not all girls are blessed with natural style and flair (even if the have money supporting them). One example is lady gaga. Sorry I mean Grecko. She may have gotten the awards nights confused with Halloween? What are your thoughts?

Walk, walk fashion baby @ Lucky’s

It was a great to be reunited with one of the TVF girls, Sofia at the FashionTrail @ Lucky’s last night. The gorgeous girls from QT surely know how to put on a chic event – not to mention how to look hot! After the definite success of the first  showcase we knew we had to go again and we will be surely attending the event quarterly to bring you the latest.
Sofia and I thought it was great to see men’s fashion showcased, Braddon Tailors had some cool threads featuring striking pocket squares. Hopefully the men in the speakeasy took some notes!

Gotta say the twist with the models circulating into the crowd was entertaining yet a little hard to photograph so I couldn’t take too many photos but managed to get some swish photos of our favourite outfits of the night.
We enjoyed some of Canberra’s best local businesses in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries. From designer vintage threads to high-fashion style. I mean who doesn’t like being kept up to date with the latest fashion trends right at your fingertips.
We love this event because it gives us the opportunity to get to know some of the best local brands and boutiques while we oogle and socialise.
Here are some happy snaps of the night

Street Style with Michaela

Michaela was spotted strolling the grounds of the ANU on her lunch break from a corporate planning day.

Her stunning blue eyes were highlighted by her choice of jumper. This Cue jumper was I quote "love at first sight". The jumper is a great colour combination and neutral enough to pair with blue denim jeans.

Michaela's wardrobe is characterised by items that can be worn both corporately and casually. A jumper like this is perfect for such an approach. Simply add a collared shirt and some black fitted cigarette pants and you can wear it to the office.

The statement necklace that Michaela wears was a gift from her friend for being her maid of honour. A fabulous idea for brides to be as your bridesmaids will think of you when they wear the jewellery.

Jumper: Cue
Necklace: Devine Goddess
Bag: Tony Bianco
Jeans: Lee

Spring is here it's time to swap the wardrobe over

It is now officially spring. While I must admit I am excited about new trends, colours and shapes, it also saddens me. With the weather warming up it is time to say good bye to my favourite shoe style, the knee high boot.

So ladies before doing the accustomed winter-summer wardrobe swap over (due to an ever expanding closet that won’t fit both seasons in it simultaneously) it is time to give some thought to storing your boots correctly.

The booties in picture below are honestly from about five years ago. They have lasted simply because I’ve looked after them.

Tips for storing boots:

 1. Check that your boots don’t need to be repaired. It is much better to get your heels replaced before they wear down to the metal. The shoe repair man will also thank you for it. Have any lifting soles glued or resoled.

2. If they don't need any heel stops or sole repairing give them a once over.  Make sure the boots are cleaned of any dirt and grime then polish with a moisturising leather polish. If you can’t find a colour to match your boots it is always best to go with a clear polish.  If you're not sure what to use just take your boots to the  repair man and get his advice. You don't want to ruin them by using the wrong product.

3. Once the boots are cleaned and polished spray them with an even coat of water proof spray. I tend to do two coats after the first one has dried.

4. Get some old socks and fill with baking soda and use a rubber band to tie it off. Insert the parcels into the boots. This will absurd any odours and moisture.

4.  It’s a good idea to create a support for the boot calf to avoid any creases in your leather. You can buy these online or make free ones from your old fashion magazines. Simply roll the magazine and insert into the book.

5. Place your winter boots in their original shoe box. If you don’t have them, pop down to the $2 shop and purchase the clear boot boxes. Storing your boots horizontally will help keep their shape and will protect them from dust.
